AUTOMATION ENGINEER EFZ
Activities:
The focus of an automation technician (3-year apprenticeship) is on the construction of control systems and wiring, while an automation engineer (4-year apprenticeship) continues with a focus on programming, visualization, planning and testing. This applies to both hardware and software.
Requirements:
Automation engineers are interested in mathematics and physics. They like to experiment and are particularly interested in technical contexts, especially in electrical engineering. This requires abstract and logical thinking. Automation engineers work thoroughly, carefully, precisely and reliably. Rapid technological developments require a high degree of willingness to pursue further training.

ELECTRICAL PLANNER EFZ
Activities:
Electrical planners work in the field of energy supply (electricity companies) or building installation technology (electrical installations). Accordingly, they plan and draw either energy supply systems for entire residential, commercial and industrial areas, transformer stations, public lighting systems, etc. or smaller scale power distribution systems in buildings of all kinds, e.g., in residential and commercial buildings. They draw installation diagrams and schematic drawings in CAD.
Requirements:
Electrical planners enjoy technical subjects such as mathematics, physics and chemistry. They are interested in technical contexts, especially in electrical engineering. This requires abstract and logical thinking. Good spatial vision and color perception are also important. Electrical planners work thoroughly, carefully, accurately and reliably. Rapid technological developments require a high willingness to pursue further training.

BUILDING IT TECHNICIAN EFZ
WITH SPECIALIZATION IN BUILDING AUTOMATION
Activities:
Building IT technicians EFZ are responsible for ensuring reliable networking of the technical infrastructure in an intelligent building. They guarantee that technical building systems, such as heating and ventilation or electrical energy consumers (lighting, household appliances), can be intelligently controlled via a functioning network.
Requirements:
Building IT technicians EFZ are interested in technology as well as information technology and how everything works together. This requires logical and abstract thinking to understand all technical connections. They often work independently but are also a team player. Due to ongoing technical change, you should also be open to learn new things and pursue further education.
